Fellowship

Can you eat your way to holiness? From the wedding in Cana of Galilee to the feeding of the 5,000, to the supper Jesus shared with his disciples on the night of his arrest, to his breakfast with the disciples on the shore of the Sea of Galilee shortly after his resurrection, Jesus’s presence always meant an abundance of food and drink. Jesus, knowing we are shaped when we gather around tables and share food, gave us the sacrament of holy communion and the charge to remember him whenever we eat and drink.

Sharing food, we share ourselves. Taking time to eat together, we make time to nourish one another with hospitality and conversation. Here at the Big Red Church we provide many opportunities to sit at table and share our food and ourselves with one another in the Spirit of Christ. In addition to light fare every Sunday after worship, we share a potluck lunch every month. Adult classes are often held in peoples’ homes with everyone bringing food to share. And members often have spontaneous outings to enjoy together the many offerings of the city.
