Purpose

Wherever Christ was, there the abundant life of God, in all its love and justice, was breaking into and transforming peoples’ lives.  The people of Calvary hope to live and give the abundant life of God in Christ.

In Christ’s name, we give what we can to the poor, the hungry, the naked, the thirsty and friendless.

“For all who seek, find; all who ask are answered; and for all who knock, the doors will open.”

As a Christian community, we maintain a sanctuary where people may seek God, refuge in a sacred place, or God’s blessing; some by participating in our worship and prayers, others by walking our labyrinth, others who come and ask to speak to the minister, and many who wed at Calvary.

And as Christ’s disciples, we believe we are called to live the way of Christ.  As the novelist and theologian Frederick Buechner said, “Our call is where our greatest joy meets the world’s greatest need.”

Whether you come for help in a time of need; to explore this whole “Christianity” thing; to settle in a quiet and sacred space; to ask God’s blessing; or to become a disciple of Christ and discern and live your call, you are welcome at Calvary.
