Virtual Church

With a click of a mouse or a touch of the screen on a smart phone, we can be, virtually, anywhere in the world--real time at a sporting event or sharing pictures with friends.  We can get the news of a crisis anywhere in the world and, in seconds, send money to help.

Digital technology allow us to be present virtually, virtually anywhere--even church.  Out of town, home with a sick child?  You can get online and find out what’s happening at the Big Red Church.  Soon, you’ll be able to download a podcast of the service anytime, anywhere.  

Who are the virtual members of Calvary?

• Some are couples who had their wedding here or their children’s baptisms and want to keep in touch.  
• Some know of our ministry in the heart of the city and want to stay informed so they can help.  
• Virtual members have contributed to the Lego Project, our care for the poor and homeless through our participation in the Central City Churches Outreach Ministry, and Baby Basics.  
• Some virtual members know it is a struggle to sustain a presence in an urban area where there is a greater concentration of poor and have made Calvary Church a regular recipient of their charitable donations.  
• Some love the building and donate to help us preserve this architectural gem.
• And others want to support us in our efforts to bring all the parts of the church together in respectful dialogue to learn from one another and to pool our resources to increase the effectiveness of our ministry to others. In this post-evangelical era, conversation and cooperation, not conversion and condemnation, are needed to be faithful witnesses to the love and justice of God in Christ Jesus.
